Dietary treatment for low blood pH

An acidic body (low pH) is a sickness magnet. It isn't hard to start effective treatment for low blood pH if you know which foods contribute to high (alkaline) or low (acidic) pH.

Below is an extensive list of foods that alkalinize or acidify the blood--it will give you plenty of choices, and you might find some surprises. For example, although you might guess that citrus would have an acidifying effect on the body, the citric acid in citric fruits contain actually has an alkalinizing effect on the system.

The following information is for those trying to adjust their blood pH and is intended only as a general guide to alkalizing and acidifying foods. The pH scale is from 0 to 14, with 7 being neutral, numbers below 7 being acidic (low on oxygen) and numbers above 7 being alkaline.

Just by taking a quick glance at the categories, you can see that most vegetables and fruits are alkalinizing, whereas most dairy, meat, and grains are acidifying. Along with the fact that fruits and vegetables have a lot of vitamins and anti-oxidants, this is another good reason to include plenty of them in your diet!
